January 2026

Progress was made on the Super Cub in 2025, but I was also distracted by catching up on a few maintenance items on the Taylorcraft, then flying it to OSH.

I also upgraded the solar power system in my KCKC hangar, and then did a panel update on my 172.

Unfortunately considerable time was wasted trying to resolve problems with defective parts including a number of high value items.

I'm not sure what's going on but I'm experiencing two things... a clear reduction in quality/conformance, and a reluctance to address the problems by manufacturers/suppliers.

How can a company like Goodyear, ship an aircraft certified tire that is not even round!?  I eventually received an exchange but not without hassel and shipping cost.

My expectations have not changed... (on second thought they actually have, they're lower).  Parts should fit and meet the required standards.  When they don't, I expect the vendor to provide support. Certainly not suggest I'm at fault!

Anyway, honestly trying not to be a grumpy old man!

The Super Cub wings are ready and I'm in the process of fitting the boot cowl and engine cowlings so I can pull lines to finish painting.

A few photos and commentary HERE of the PA18-95 progress to date.
